Dear Friends,
My name is Jason “Nak” McClain, and I will be your Balticon 51 Masquerade Director. I have always had a love for expression, costuming, and the arts. In my journeys, I have been honored to have had a hand in several Masquerades, and am honored to be your director! My philosophy regarding costuming and those who enjoy it are engaged in expressions of the innermost beauty, cleverness, kindness, and experience, that we all feel inside. For those who see me, and the wonderful costumers that are ever present in all venues I have been in, I always see the fantastic, and the wonderful.
Sign Up/in for the Masquerade will be at a Masquerade Table in the registration area beginning at 10:00 AM on Saturday and close at 4:00 PM. A technical rehearsal will also be held. Everyone appearing on stage must go through a tech rehearsal. If you wish to pre-register for the Masquerade online, you can do so using this form here: Balticon 51 Online Masquerade Sign Up form. It is my grand plan, for Balticon 51 Masquerade, to be able to present the most spectacular, jaw-dropping, awe inspiring, clever, and crafty costumes that anyone has ever seen. I have always enjoyed the Balticon Masquerade, and I think that you will too! The Balticon Masquerade will be held in the Main Ballroom beginning at 9:00 PM on Saturday. A Masquerade Green Room will be open for the contestants starting at 6:00 PM Saturday.
You can find more information about the masquerade here: Balticon 51 Masquerade Info

The Balticon Masquerade will be run according to the Costumers Guild specification.

There will be several divisions in the Masquerade as follows: Young Fan, Novice, Journeyman, Craftsman, and Master. In each of these divisions the costumes will be adjudicated according to two main categories, Original Concept and Re-Creation.

Group costumes and individual entries are welcome! Groups of from one (1) to four (4) contestants will be permitted a maximum of one minute (60 seconds) on stage. Groups of five or more will be permitted a maximum of two minutes. Short is better than long. For more information, please refer to the rules here: Balticon 51 Masquerade Rules

Thanks for taking the time to check out our Masquerade page. It is a great honor to serve you all, and I hope to see all of you at the Masquerade.

Truly,
-Jay Nak
