Fan Guest of Honor: Geri Sullivan

Minneapolis fans and music parties brought Geri Sullivan into fandom in the early 1980s. Hundreds of parties, projects, fanzines, conventions, and friends around the world conspired and collaborated to make sure she stayed through the decades that quickly followed. In 2004, she headed East to establish Toad Woods in rural Massachusetts, which she happily claims is in the “Greater Minneapolis Area”! (You can take the fan out of Minnesota, but you can’t take the Minnesota out of the fan.)

Zinewiki terms her a zinester: she published many one-shots as well as 11 issues of Idea, which was first published in 1988 and won FAAn Awards in 1998 and 2001, and she co-edited 4 issues of the Science-Fiction Five-Yearly, the last of which won the 2007 Hugo Award for Best Fanzine.

She works on conventions; local, regional, and Worldcons, lending her graphic design talent to websites and Program books at a convention near you! She spearheaded the MidAmericon II Video Archeology Project, to restore film of 1970s conventions, and hopefully she will bring some to screen for us at Balticon 51.
